Support
Write to support@mindspace.now and a person will answer. It's a small operation, so allow a few days — but every message is read.
If you're in crisis, this isn't the place. mindspace can't help in an emergency. Nobody reads your entries and there is no one on the other end of the app.
If you're thinking about harming yourself, are in immediate danger, or are worried about someone else, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line now. In the US you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Please don't use an app instead of getting help.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no email address, no password. Install the app and start writing — that's the whole setup.
Where do I begin?
The Home screen has a journal card with a question on it. Tap it and write. If a blank page feels like too much, the Exercises tab has eleven other shapes of page, and Guided Thoughts will ask you one question at a time instead.
Is it free?
Yes, for individuals. If you're looking at it for a school, a team or an organisation, see the schools & workplaces page.
Which devices does it work on?
iPhone. Some features — the generated questions and on-device voice transcription — need a model that supports Apple Intelligence. Everything else works on any supported iPhone.
Your entries
Where are they stored?
On your iPhone, as files, and nowhere else. No account, no server, nothing uploaded. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
How do I get my writing out?
Every exercise can export a PDF. Open an entry, tap the ⋯ button in the header, and choose the share option. That PDF is yours — save it to Files, email it to yourself, print it.
Can I lock an entry?
Journal entries can be locked individually with Face ID or your passcode. A locked entry shows a padlock wherever it appears in the app and needs authentication to open.
Entries you haven't locked are readable by anyone who can unlock your phone. That's worth knowing if you share a device.
Can I organise entries into different journals?
Yes. The journal card on Home has a picker at the top — tap the name to switch books, create a new one, or rename and manage the ones you have. New entries are filed into whichever is selected.
I deleted something by accident. Can you restore it?
No, and it's worth being straight about why: there is no copy anywhere for us to restore from. That's the same design decision that means nobody can read your entries.
If you have an iCloud Backup from before the deletion, restoring your device from it is the only route, and that's between you and Apple.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete All Data. It's immediate and permanent. Deleting the app does the same thing.
Voice, photos and drawings
How do I add a voice note?
In a journal entry, tap the microphone in the bar above the keyboard. The recording is attached to that entry and stays on your phone.
What does transcription do?
Press and hold a recording and you'll get two options. Transcription turns the audio into text. Summarize writes a short version of what you said. Either can be added straight into the entry.
Both run on your device. The audio never leaves your phone.
Can I draw?
Yes — the pencil in the keyboard bar opens a canvas. Drawings attach to the entry alongside photos and audio. An empty canvas isn't saved, so opening it and changing your mind leaves nothing behind.
Suggested questions
What are they?
While you're writing, a short open question may appear about something you've put down. It's an invitation to keep going if you want one — never advice, never a judgment about you. Ignore it and it goes away.
How do I get rid of one?
Tap the × or swipe it down.
How do I turn them off completely?
Settings → Preferences → Suggested Questions. With it off you write without prompts, and nothing else changes.
Why don't I see any?
They start after you've written a little, so a very short entry won't produce one. Generated questions also need a device with Apple Intelligence enabled — on other iPhones the app uses its own written questions instead.
Reminders
Why haven't my reminders arrived?
Check Settings → Preferences → Reminders is on, and that iOS is allowing notifications for mindspace. If iOS is blocking them, the app shows an "Open iOS Settings" row to take you straight there.
Reminders are delivered locally by iOS and can be delayed for reasons outside the app's control, so please don't rely on them for anything time-critical.
Report a problem
Email support@mindspace.now with your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot helps more than anything.
Please don't paste journal entries into a support email unless you want us to read them — we'd rather you didn't have to.
Suggest an exercise
There's a Suggest an Exercise button in the app's Settings, or just write in. Ideas from people actually using the thing are the good ones.
